HIGHLIGHTS

This page highlights some of Josh's recent work, including extension articles, posters, and other publications. Josh has numerous extension publications available through e-GRO (e-gro.org) that discuss various aspects of floriculture production. Most of these publications cover nutritional disorders and symptoms associated with other abiotic problems. Other extension articles have been published in the form of factsheets on the North Carolina State University tobacco extension website. Some of these articles can be found here.

FIRST PLACE POSTER

Dr. Brian Jackson (left) awarding Josh Henry (right) the award for first place student poster at the 2017 ISHS Substrates Conference.

This poster titled Nutrient disorders of Lactuca sativa 'Salanova Red' won first place in the student poster competition at the 2017 International Symposium on Growing Media, Soilless Cultivation, and Compost Utilization in Horticulture. The poster illustrates the symptoms and tissue nutrient concentrations of several nutrient disorders of 'Salanova Red' lettuce.

Josh was also on author on the poster that received second place in the student competition, Incorporating slow release coated polymer aluminum sulfate into the substrate to produce blue hydrangeas. This poster was presented by fellow NC State graduate student Hunter Landis.

Together, the NC State graduate students took four of the top six oral and poster presentation awards at this symposium, demonstrating the robust and internationally recognized level of research being conducted at our university.

TOBACCO iBOOK

This iBook was released in 2017 to provide an overview of nutritional disorder symptomology exhibited by flue cured and burley tobacco. The symptoms were induced by our group at NC State.

Here is the description: Tobacco growers are often faced with unknown plant nutrition disorders during the production season.  This comprehensive guide will aid in rapid identification of nutritional disorders and allow growers to select the most appropriate management strategy.  This electronic book contains a rich collection of nutrient disorder photographs, videos, and media of tobacco.  In addition, 3-D scans offer complete and comprehensive diagnostics for nutrient disorders.
